The Philippines

Geographic Description

The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago consisting of 7, 107 islands. The Philippines is divided into three main geographic regions, namely Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.  The country is at the South East region of Asia and is being surrounded by China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Climate

The Philippines is a tropical country with temperature ranging from 21 °C (70 °F) to 32 °C (90 °F). December to February are the coldest months while April to June are the hottest. Since the archipelago is sitting at the typhoon belt, torrential rains and thunderstorms usually visit from July to October. Although, because of climate change, typhoons can still be expected in November and December.

Food

Filipino food is a product of mixed local and foreign influences. Since the Philippines has been colonized by Spain for 333 years, Filipinos have embraced Spanish dishes such as Relleno, Paella, Escabeche, and more. Chinese influenced dishes such as Pansit, Siopai, and Siomai are common food choices too. A normal Filipino meal is composed of rice, meat or fish dish, and a vegetable soup. Popular Filipino dishes are Adobo, Sinigang, Kare-kare, and Lechon.
